It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the year already! Time has certainly gone by fast. Life is busy – we get it and often times we’re so focused on looking after other people in our life that we can sometimes forget to take care of ourselves and our oral health. That’s why at this time of the year we like to remind people that most insurance plans have a calendar year maximum and deductible period, and insurance maximums do not roll over from year to year. This means that if you have unused benefits at the end of the year, you lose them. Many people also participate in a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account with your employer as well. In most cases, any benefits left in these accounts at the end of the year are lost. These are benefits that you have already paid for!
In some cases it is possible to complete dental treatment in phases. Careful planning in 2016 to maximize your benefits and then doing the remaining treatment in 2017 will allow you a higher reimbursement level than if you wait until 2017 to do all of your treatment, depending on your individual needs. Other factors like covered cleanings that you have not used, deductibles etc. may result in your benefits being lost. We have additional days that our hygienist will be here to help accommodate our patients that are looking to have a cleaning and checkup before the end of the year.
Don’t let your unused benefits expire! Your dental care is important to us and we want to make sure you get the care you need. If you or anyone in your family has been putting off your your work, please call our office as soon as possible. If you are unsure of your dental needs, call us today, we will be happy to assist you.
